We have had a very busy few days exploring all things Literacy based!
As well as lots of exciting activities taking part in the classrooms, Years 4 and 5 had an exciting visit from a local author, Carolyn Ward, who came in to share her second book, “Bella Bright and the Witch Tree” which continues the story of Bella Bright. The children had great fun asking questions to Carolyn and then creating their own amazing mazes and writing their own phenomenal spooky stories based on the theme “Don’t Go in the Woods”.
Year 6 also had a visit from a local poet, Fraser Scott, who shared what poetry is, the different styles and topics they could write about. The children wrote some fantastic poems, some funny, some emotive, but all of a very high standard.
Year 2 also took on the role of authors and illustrators, writing their own stories.
Well done to all of our talented Griffins and thank you to our visitors for joining us on our very first Griffin Literacy Festival!
