Year 1 have been full of excitement as they eagerly awaited for our chicken eggs to hatch. On Friday 15th May, the last egg finally hatched, meaning all of our chicks are now here! We were very pleased that all 10 eggs successfully hatched.

Our Griffins have done incredibly well learning all about the chicks’ journey, from the eggs being placed in the incubator to watching them hatch. They have loved observing the changes each day and have shown great care, patience, and curiosity throughout the experience.

The chicks have been carefully moved from the incubator into the brooder box, where we will continue to watch them grow over the next week. The children will also have the opportunity to gently and carefully hold the chicks before they return to the farm on Friday 22nd May.

On Thursday 14th May, some of our pupils in Year 1 & 2 had a fantastic time at a Cricket Festival, where they were introduced to the exciting world of cricket through a range of fun and engaging activities.

The festival, held at Stourbridge Cricket Club, was designed to help the children develop new skills, build confidence, and enjoy being part of a team. We were incredibly proud of how well they represented our school. They listened carefully, joined in enthusiastically, and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.

They were a credit to the school and should be very proud of themselves. 🏏🌟

Our Griffins in Reception have had a fantastic time at West Midlands Safari Park. As part of their Wild and Wonderful theme, they have been learning about animals, so the visit was a perfect opportunity to bring their learning to life.

They discovered many interesting facts about safari animals and loved seeing them close up. The highlight of the day was their picnic lunch which they had been eagerly anticipating. Afterwards, they enjoyed exploringthe Dinosaur and Ice Age models and spotting even more animals along the way. A memorable time was had by all.

Year 2 were ‘Creative Chameleons’ in their DT lesson, making their moving vehicles. They were ‘Choosing Chimps’, carefully selecting the materials that would allow their Fire Engines to move.

We tested our Fire Engines on the playground to make sure that they could travel. The children were ‘Concentrating Crocodiles’ when fixing their wheels and axels together and I think we would all agree that they are very ‘Proud Peacocks’ now that their Fire Engines are complete. Next up is evaluating their creations.

What great team work and communication skills we have seen!

On Monday 20th April, six of our young Griffins took part in a Bike Ability session, building confidence, sharpening their skills, and having plenty of fun along the way. 🚴‍♂️✨

The session was filmed to support a campaign to recruit more Bike Ability instructors across the UK, and the film will be shown to councils around the country to help spread the message. We’re so proud of their effort, teamwork, and enthusiasm. ⭐

What a fantastic residential visit we have just enjoyed! The children made us proud every single day and were a real credit to their families. From start to finish, they showed kindness, resilience and enthusiasm, and it was a pleasure to see them grow in confidence as the trip went on.

We shared so many wonderful experiences together. The children loved exploring the National Railway Museum, where they learnt more about transport history and enjoyed seeing the impressive locomotives up close. At the Jorvik Viking Centre and Dig, they stepped back in time and discovered fascinating details about life in York’s past. Sightseeing around York was another highlight, giving everyone the chance to admire the beautiful city and learn more about its rich heritage.

There was plenty of fun too. A trip to Bowling brought lots of cheers, excitement and friendly competition, with many laughs had throughout the evening. Back at the accommodation, the children enjoyed playing board games, chatting with friends and making memories together in a relaxed and happy atmosphere. A visit to Eureka! Children’s Museum added yet another brilliant learning experience, with hands-on activities that sparked curiosity and encouraged plenty of questions.

Across the whole visit, the children were respectful, responsible and wonderfully supportive of one another. They joined in with everything wholeheartedly and represented the school exceptionally well. It was a joy to spend this time with them and to see them embrace each new activity with such positivity.

A residential visit like this creates memories that last long after the journey home, and this one certainly gave us all plenty to smile about.

鶹ý Primary became a whole new school, as our Griffins became Minions, Disney princesses, Marvel characters, Harry Potter characters, Roald Dahl characters, astronauts…the list is endless! Our Griffins had great fun dressing up as their favourite book characters, sharing their favourite stories, and taking part in book-related activities as part of World Book Day 2026.
Some of our Griffins also shared photographs of where they like to read at home. We definitely have a school full of children who love to read!

Each year, one of our proud traditions is celebrating our Founders Day, when we commemorate being a member of the Griffin Schools Trust. This year, our Founders Day was especially important as we also celebrated our school being open for over 70 years.
Our Griffins explored the theme “Our Legacy : Our Identity, Our Story” through a variety of exciting activities which included exploring the environment and researching how it has changed, exploring photographs from the past and discussing the uniforms and how they have altered over time, recreating some old PE photographs, and considering what the 鶹ý building, uniform and curriculum will look like in another 70 years time. Our Griffins also discussed our values and discussed what makes 鶹ý the amazing school that it is.
We also had a visit from several past pupils and they shared with us what 鶹ý was like when they were young children, their teachers and their curriculum, and how the building had changed. They even told us about a huge slide that was in Reception class and how a poor young girl got her kilt pin caught as she tried to slide down and had to be rescued by the teacher!
Finally, Year 2 strengthened our links with the community and visited Broadway Halls and enjoyed working on a selection of activities with the older residents.
Happy Founders Day!

On Thursday 6th November, 鶹ý Primary proudly relaunched its fireworks event after a very long time. It was a wonderful evening filled with games, rides, and plenty of prizes, all culminating in a spectacular fireworks display on the school field.

A huge thank you goes to our staff, BPFA members, Jubilee Fireworks, and the local community for their fantastic support in making the event such a success. We hope this marks the beginning of a brand-new and much-loved tradition for our school.
